IN THE SOUTH AND IN A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC A RISK OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS. LATE IN THE DAY AND DURING THE NIGHT IN THE OPEN SEA LOCAL GUSTS OF NW WINDS 35-50 KNOTS. IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-40 KNOTS. SEA LOCALLY IN THE OPEN DURING THE NIGHT UP TO 5.

SYNOPSIS

A low centred over the South Adriatic will be shifting slowly eastwards.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

Mainly NW, in the South Adriatic at first SW winds, 6-16 knots. Late in the day NW winds 6-16, in the open south of Istria strengthening to 16-32 knots. In the Velebit Channel NE winds 10-20, in places along the coast during the night still up to 15 knots. Sea 2-3, increasing in the open to 3-4, in the open of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic during the night up to 5. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably and mainly cloudy with rain, isolated rain showers and thunder in places, particularly in the South Adriatic.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

Light to moderate NW, in places along the coast NE winds, only in the Velebit Channel up to fresh. Strong and near gale force NW winds in the open, easing in the North Adriatic in the morning, till midday in the Central Adriatic as well. Sea smooth or slight, in the open of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic moderate and rough. Clearing, but still with scattered rain and isolated rain showers in the South Adriatic in the morning.
