IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-60, EASING IN THE EVENING AND DURING THE NIGHT TO 45 KNOTS. DURING THE NIGHT AND IN THE MORNING IN THE EXTREME SOUTH OF THE ADRIATIC LOCAL GUSTS OF SE WINDS 35-45 KNOTS. A RISK OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS, MAINLY IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC.

SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is extending over the Adriatic from the northwest, while a shallow low is slowly shifting from southern Italy eastwards.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE, in the open sea NW winds, 6-16 knots. In the Velebit Channel NE winds 15-30, easing in the evening and during the night to 12-22 knots. Sea 2-3, initially in the Velebit Channel up to 4. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably cloudy with scattered rain, isolated rain showers and thunder, mainly in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic. In the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic partial clearing.

Light to moderate NE and NW, in the Velebit Channel NE winds up to fresh. In the extreme south of the Adriatic moderate to near gale force SE winds. Sea smooth or slight, increasing in the extreme south up to moderate. Fine or fair, in the South Adriatic mainly cloudy with scattered rain and isolated rain showers.
