GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-65, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 80, EASING FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT TO 35-45, ONLY IN THE EXTREME SOUTH OF THE ADRIATIC STILL UP TO 60 KNOTS. SEA LOCALLY UP TO 5, MAINLY IN THE OPEN.

SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is intensifying over the Adriatic from the northwest, while a low over the Ionian Sea is gradually filling up and shifting eastwards.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 15-30, in places of the South Adriatic up to 35, and in the Velebit Channel up to 40 knots. West of Istria in the afternoon NE winds easing to 6-16 knots. Sea 3-4, in the open 4-5. Visibility 20 km. Mostly clear, but in the South Adriatic at first still variably cloudy with a little rain.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

Mostly clear. Moderate to near gale force NE winds, easing from the middle of the night to light to fresh, only in the extreme south of the Adriatic still up to near gale force. Sea slight and moderate, in the extreme south of the Adriatic up to rough, gradually calming in the North and Central Adriatic from the middle of the night to smooth and slight.
