LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-55, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 70, GRADUALLY DIMINISHING TO 35-40 KNOTS AND TURNING TOWARD THE OPEN OF THE SOUTH AND CENTRAL ADRIATIC TO NW. SEA LOCALLY IN THE OPEN STILL UP TO 5 AND IN THE EXTREME SOUTH OF THE ADRIATIC STILL A RISK OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS AT FIRST.

SYNOPSIS

A shallow trough is shifting from the Adriatic eastwards, while a ridge of high pressure is intensifying from the west.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 14-28, in the Velebit Channel up to 36, gradually diminishing to 10-22 and turning toward the open of the Central and South Adriatic to NW. Sea 3-4, toward the open possibly up to 5 at first. Visibility above 20 km. Mostly clear, but in the South Adriatic at first still fair with a risk of scattered rain, isolated rain showers and thunder.

Moderate to strong NE, toward the open of the Central and South Adriatic NW winds, diminishing toward midday. Sea smooth or slight, toward the open possibly up to moderate. Mostly clear.
