GUSTS OF NE and E WINDS 35-60, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL, TONIGHT IN THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC AS WELL, OF NE WINDS IN PLACES UP TO 80 KNOTS. IN THE OPEN SEA OF THE SOUTH ADRIATIC AT FIRST GUSTS OF SE WINDS 35-45 KNOTS. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE IN THE SOUTH, TODAY IN THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC AS WELL. SEA IN THE OPEN UP TO 5.

SYNOPSIS

A low over the Adriatic is slowly filling up and shifting further southeastwards, while a ridge of high pressure is intensifying from the northwest.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE and E winds 16-34, in the Velebit Channel, tonight in the Central Adriatic, NE up to 42 knots in places. In the South Adriatic SE winds 12-28, gradually diminishing and giving way in the evening to NE, toward the Strait of Otranto briefly to NW 10-20 knots. Sea 3-4, in the open 4-5. Visibility 5-15 km. Overcast with occasional rain, isolated rain showers and thunder, ceasing and cloud breaking expected, firstly in the North Adriatic.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

Gradual clearing, but in the South, tonight still in southern Dalmatia, still mainly cloudy with rain, showers and thunder. Moderate to near gale force, in the North and Central Adriatic up to gale force NE winds. Sea mainly moderate and rough. No significant change in air temperatures.
