GUSTS OF NE WINDS 40-90, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 130 KNOTS. IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC AT FIRST GUSTS OF SE and SW WINDS 30-50 KNOTS. SEA 5-6. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

SYNOPSIS

A low over the Tyrrhenian Sea and the South Adriatic gradually shifting southwards, while a ridge of high pressure is intensifying from the northwest.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 18-46, in the Velebit up to 70 knots. In the South Adriatic SE and SW winds 16-36 knots, diminishing late in the day and turning during the night to NE 14-32 knots. Sea 4-5, in the open of the North and Central Adriatic up to 6. Visibility 10-20 km, but in places reduced due to showers. Overcast with rain, isolated rain showers and thunder, in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic possibly more abundant precipitation, and along the coast of the North and of a part of the Central Adriatic a little risk of wind drifted snow. Till the end of the day in a part of the North Adriatic gradual end of precipitation and clearing later on.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS

Strong and gale force, in the Velebit Channel up to storm force NE winds. Sea moderate and rough, in the open up to very rough. Mainly cloudy with rain and with a risk of isolated rain showers and thunder, along the coast of a part of the North and Central Adriatic of wind drifted snow as well. In the North, till the morning in the Central and in the greater part of the South Adriatic partial clearing and end of precipitation. Night and morning air temperatures will drop a little, daily ones will warm up.
