GUSTS OF NE WINDS 40-90, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 130 KNOTS. IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC AT FIRST GUSTS OF SE and SW WINDS 30-50 KNOTS. SEA 5-6. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

SYNOPSIS

A low over the Tyrrhenian Sea and the South Adriatic will continue to deepen and then to shift southwards.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds strengthening to 18-46, in the Velebit Channel up to 70 knots. In the South Adriatic SE winds turning to SW 14-36 knots, diminishing late in the day. Sea increasing to 4-5, in the open of the North and Central Adriatic up to 6. Visibility 10-20 km, but in places reduced due to showers. Overcast with rain, isolated rain showers and thunder, possibly more abundant precipitation in places, gradually ceasing in the North Adriatic. Along the coast of the North and of a part of the Central Adriatic a little risk of snow.

Clearing in the North Adriatic. Elsewhere mainly cloudy with rain, isolated rain showers and thunder, gradually ceasing in the Central and in a part of the South Adriatic. In the South Adriatic moderate to strong, elsewhere strong and gale force, in the Velebit Channel up to storm force NE winds. Sea moderate and rough, in the open of the North and Central Adriatic possibly up to very rough.
